Awards & Recognition
At The Old House at Home, we believe a great pub should contribute far more to its community than simply serving great food and drink.
Our work in community engagement, sustainability, staff development, hospitality and fundraising has now been recognised at local, regional and national level.
We are incredibly proud of every award and nomination, and especially grateful to our team, customers, local businesses and the wider Dormansland community who make these achievements possible.
National Award Winner 2026
The Old House at Home is incredibly proud to have been named Sustainability Hero Winner at the 2026 PubAid Community Pub Hero Awards.
After being selected as one of just four finalists from pubs across the UK, we went on to win the national award in recognition of our work to make sustainability a visible and practical part of everyday life at the pub.
The PubAid Community Pub Hero Awards celebrate pubs that make an exceptional contribution to their communities, and the Sustainability Hero Award recognises pubs leading the way through environmental and sustainability initiatives.
For a small village pub in Dormansland, receiving national recognition is something we are extremely proud of. Our sustainability work has included projects designed not only to reduce our own environmental impact, but also to encourage the wider community to get involved — from cycling and active travel initiatives to growing, planting, reusing, recycling and sharing practical ideas locally.
Winning this award is wonderful recognition of everything our team, customers and wider community have helped us achieve.

BII Heart of the Community Award
We are delighted to have been recognised by the British Institute of Innkeeping as a Heart of the Community Award winner 2026.
The award celebrates pubs that go above and beyond for their communities, recognising the role pubs play in bringing people together, supporting good causes and creating stronger local connections.
At The Old House at Home, community involvement is part of everyday life - from charity quizzes and fundraising events to supporting local organisations and businesses, creating activities that bring different generations together and making the pub a welcoming place for everyone.
The BII described us as “a driving force within your community” and said our dedication “shines through in all that you do.”
We are incredibly proud of this recognition because it reflects exactly what we want The Old House at Home to be: not simply a pub located in Dormansland, but a pub that belongs to Dormansland.
Shepherd Neame Sustainable Pub of the Year
We were thrilled to be named Sustainable Pub of the Year at the Shepherd Neame Pub Awards 2026.
The award recognises our continuing commitment to making sustainability part of the everyday operation of The Old House at Home.
Our initiatives have included reducing waste, encouraging cycling, improving energy and water efficiency, reusing and repurposing materials, supporting biodiversity, growing produce and involving both our team and customers in practical environmental projects.
Shepherd Neame’s judges praised our authentic commitment to sustainability and local sourcing.
